ARTIST: Jacob Lawrence
SIZE: 28” w x 41” h
Undoubtedly one of the most significant Bumbershoot posters ever commissioned, this is the work of prominent American artist Jacob Lawrence and one of the most famous Pacific Northwest faces of the international art world. The initial poster was created by a rising talent, but within a year Mr. Lawrence had gone on to produce a renowned series of images to grace the worldwide Olympic posters and his artistic talents soared to new heights.
The original poster is scarce and worth a small fortune. MOHAI counts one of the posters as part of their collection and the poster ‘s demand hadn’’t slowed down after 20 years. So, for the 25th anniversary of Bumbershoot , a limited edition run was printed and shared with longtime sponsors and friends of the festival with thanks.
Across the bottom of the poster, there is a notation “This 25th Anniversary limited edition poster of Bumbershoot ‘76 by Jacob Lawrence is made possible by the generous donations of Heath Printers and Wyeast Color.
Specialthanks to the Seattle Arts Commission, Bumbershoot 1995. The Seattle Arts Festival is produced and presented by One Reel in collaboration with Seattle Center.”
However, there were a handful of reprints that found their way into One Reel’s storage archive and 25 years AFTER the poster was reprinted to commemorate the 25 anniversary, we are offering this poster for the very last time . It’s a worthwhile investment of work from a truly historical Seattle Artist.
Score one of these puppies and you might consider buying a lottery ticket, as it’s your lucky day!
